Two Key Skills for Leaders

My associate, Diane Lindemann, and I have been working with a number of people on how their roles shift dramatically when they go from being the team, to leading the team. It really does require an entirely different skill set. My signature coaching programme, Performance through People was designed with this in mind.

So what are the two other skill sets worth considering?

  • Project Management: this is not just for those positions titled Project Manager in some big corporation → as a business owner you need expertise in ensuring projects come together – on time – at the right price. Your business reputation depends on it! People who are skilled in this are twice as successful as those who aren’t. Step one is understanding how a project differs from normal business operations.

  • Handling Conflict: We spend a large portion of our day in conflict → conflict over resources – time and money – over and above human interactions with suppliers, team members, family etc. Yet we are seldom exposed to training in this area. Improved skills here will ensure a reduction in stress levels and an increase in performance.

Why wouldn’t you make an investment in these skills for yourself and your business?
